2017 Los Angeles Dinner

Thursday, April 20, 2017

On Thursday April 20th Safe At Home held its annual Los Angeles Dinner, at the Hotel Bel-Air. This year, the sold-out event hosted by Ali and Joe Torre, offered a change-up to the Major League Baseball theme with a nod to the National Basketball Association. Joe Torre and Bob Costas led a panel discussion with NBA Hall of Famers and Los Angeles Lakers greats, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and James Worthy. These all-time greats delighted guests with stories and highlights from their college and professional careers, and spoke of the environment of their championship teams as family that focused on lifting each other up rather than on individual statistics.

This annual event supports our fundraising efforts for our Safe At Home programs in Los Angeles where we have reached almost 10,000 youth and provided over 3,200 counseling sessions to children who live in fear and witness violence in their homes, their schools and their communities. The success of the evening was in great part due to our Gala Committee members, Co-Chairs, Alison Petrocelli and Lori Sunkin, Gina & Mark Albert, Vincent Calcagno, Jacqueline Casado, Rita & Joe Cohen, Edward Mady, Mareva & Paul Marciano, Tawny & Jerry Sanders, and Rosa Sinnott.
