2016 LA Dinner

Los Angeles, CA

Safe At Home® held its “All-Star Evening” on Thursday, April 28th at the spectacular, Hotel Bel-Air in Beverly Hills. Hosted by Ali and Joe Torre, the event raised over $400,000, which will enable Safe At Home to continue to provide young people with the help and support they need to live a life free of violence.

Over 200 people gathered to support our efforts and relive the infamous 1988 World Series Home Run! The evening began with an introduction by Ali and Joe Torre and an inspiring presentation by one of our Margaret’s Place Peer Leaders about how our programming has positively affected his life and his school.

After dinner the All-Stars, Joe Torre, Kirk Gibson, Dennis Eckersley, Tony La Russa and Orel Hershiser took the stage. Billy Crystal joined the group onstage and helped to relive the awesome play while adding some humorous commentary along the way. As an opening to the panel, Bob Costas recorded a 12-minute play-by-play video about the game that he originally announced over 20 years ago. The All-Stars talked for over an hour about the intensity of that remarkable game and shared personal stories about how it affected them and their teammates.

A special thank you to our Dinner Committee members who helped make this event a success: Co-Chairs – Alison Petrocelli & Lori Sunkin, Gina & Mark Albert, Vincent Calcagno, Rita & Joe Cohen and Rosa Sinnott.
