New York Gala 2023
On November 11, 2023, Ali & Joe Torre gathered at at Gotham Hall in New York City to host special celebrity guests from the worlds of sports, music, and entertainment, along with the program counselors and youth leaders who bring our mission to life.
At this year’s Annual Gala we had the extraordinary privilege of honoring Kate and Bob Devlin for making Safe At Home a philanthropic and volunteer priority in their lives, and for the substantial impact they have made on this life-changing work since our inception.
As always, our Master of Ceremonies Bob Costas joined Joe and players from the 1998 New York Yankees team—along with special guests Billy Crystal, Hideki Mastui, and Harrison Bader—to reminisce and honor Scott Brosius for the vital role he played in their World Series title run.
Our evening concluded with a special comedic performance by Saturday Night Live’s own Marcello Hernandez.
More than 20 years ago, Safe At Home was founded to save lives and end the cycle of violence and abuse through education. Today our vision is realized in our Margarets Place (MP) sites in 18 schools in three states as well as two international programs, reaching over 20,000 children and youth each year.
We have never felt more hopeful about the difference we are making. After receiving services at MP, 94% of students reports feeling safer, 91% of students say they feel more confident and have better self esteem, and 95% of students are more hopeful about their future. And as a principal recently shared with us:
“Margaret’s Place is much more than a room. Its is a force in shaping who we are. Its says we are determined to provide a respectful supportive environment for all members of our community. No one is alone. I cannot imagine my school without Margaret’s Place. It is and will continue to be part of who we are.”
With over 20 years of data that demonstrates the positive impact of MP on the loves of over 160,000 young people, we are uniquely poised to create a roadmap to take our model to scale. The stakes have never been higher for the communities we have the privileged to serve.
